ABOUT LANCASHIRE LAMB BOXES

OUR STORY

We are John and Eden, we took over the tenancy on our farm in Lancashire in August 2021 after having embarked on a 300 mile re-location from Sussex. Although we were both fresh to hill farming at the time, John’s family hold a history of livestock farming in the South of England. Eden, however, takes the title of 1st generation farmer from her family.

The Lancashire hills have provided us with the ideal environment to home our 160 head of cattle, 400 breeding ewes, 50 pigs, 4 donkeys and of course our  working dogs (Barley, Trigger and Tucker) and cat (Elbie).

We started selling our meat to the public in an attempt to earn extra money; selling to supermarkets wasn't leaving us with enough money to pay the bills. After a couple of months, a video we shared on tiktok explaining what we do gained a lot of traction. Since then things have gone from strength to strength and we are now able to support other farmers with fair prices too. TikTok still remains our main way to advertise our farm and produce, with just over 200,000 followers on there.

Most of the meat we sell is reared on our farm, however, sometimes we have to source some from a friend or neighbouring farmer who we trust. We will of course make sure they are paid a fair price. All our animals are slaughtered in a local, family-run abattoir. Our butcher then prepares the meat, once ready, we then package it up in our specially designed wool-insulated boxes with ice packs to keep it perfectly chilled in transit. We use either APC Overnight or Royal Mail as the couriers.
